CODE OF PRACTICE

Local authority approval

Double-check with your local authority before

installation. Some authorities may have special

requirements.

Storage and handling

TradePex pipes should be covered if they are being

stored in direct sunlight for more than 30 days.

Although flexible, avoid scoring or crushing the

pipe. Pipe installed externally or between walls

must be enclosed in protective material to avoid

UV or wear damage. Do not place heavy or sharp

objects on top of pipe.

Bending

TradePex pipe can be repeatedly flexed without

harm. The recommended minimum bending

radius is eight-times the pipe diameter. Where

tighter bends are required, you’ll need elbow

or bend supports. Avoid over-bending or buckling

the pipe. If kinked, the damaged section must

be replaced.

Under concrete

TradePex must be installed in accordance with

AS/NZS3500 or local authority requirements.

Just make sure you install the pipework in a

conduit and avoid joints under concrete.

Concrete walls

Pipe should be placed in a formed chase, wrapped

with a sealed, flexible material. Avoid joints

wherever possible.

Supports

Spacing between supports should meet AS/

NZS3500. Use purpose-made clips to allow free

thermal movement. Don’t use metal pipe clips.
