Mont Albert relocates to Box Hill

Aug 02, 2016

We’ve taken the next step in our bold network expansion and upgrade plans by relocating our Mont Albert trade branch in Melbourne, Victoria to a bigger and better site in Box Hill.

With 685 square metres of trade and warehouse space, the new branch will offer the local plumbing and building community a comprehensive range of quality plumbing supplies from leading brands, along with Tradelink’s ‘true blue’ customer service.

Tradelink’s General Manager of Operations, Tim Broxham said that new Box Hill site is a great example of identifying opportunities to improve our service offering to trade customers by positioning stores in better, more convenient locations.

“The old site at Mont Albert was difficult in terms of site access and egress. It was located on a clearway and had limited car parks for customers. Whereas, the new site at Box Hill is in a central location and has far better access with plenty of onsite parking,” he said.

Head of Operations (South), David Press added that the move has clear benefits in operational and service efficiencies.

“The old site was quite fragmented in servicing the customer,” he said. “By moving to a new site, we’ve gained a more efficient storage space, a best-in-class warehouse layout and a great new trade counter area. The new site is also a big improvement on safety, with better access to loading and unloading zones. We’re now set up to serve customers much more efficiently.”

Tradelink has a clear plan for upgrading and investing in our network of branches over the coming years, with a focus on improving customer service and convenience for plumbers and refurbishing showrooms for homeowners.

“We continually review our sites to ensure we are in the right locations to support trade and we’ve recently reclassified all of our branches in terms of size and range, to ensure our stores always stock the right products for their local area,” said Mr Broxham.

“It’s fair to say that some of our showrooms have suffered from many years of underinvestment, but our showroom refurbishment program will see all showrooms upgraded over the next three years. We’ve already refurbished 56 showrooms in the last 18 months and plan complete a further 32 refurbishments in the next 12 months, with the remaining showrooms to receive fit-outs by June 2018.”

Not only is Tradelink planning to revamp its entire network of 200 plus stores over the coming years, General Manager, Alan Ball also has bold plans to significantly expand Tradelink’s national footprint.

“Tradelink is serious about being the best in the business and we’ve committed to opening 20 additional branches each year for the next two or three years,” he said.

“Feedback shows that SME plumbers prefer not to travel more than 15 minutes from a job to get parts, so we’ve engaged with our local branch network to understand where they believe the gaps are. We look at our existing locations, our customers and projects, as well renovation and maintenance areas, and travel times for customers, and then we put a dot on the map and effectively fill that gap. We want to make sure that no matter where plumbers are working there is a Tradelink store nearby.”

Our bold commitment to open 20 new stores each year for the next three years, along with our extended Customer Service Promises and new customer loyalty program (both launching in the coming months), are just some of the ways we are working to improve our offering and service to you.

The new Box Hill branch is located at Unit 5, 41–43 Lexton Road, Box Hill. If you’re in the area, drop by and say g’day to the team!
